we believe in unity on the major things below but value diversity in the smaller stuff. So imperfect people with different backgrounds and ideas are welcome at Providence.

jesus christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, who is the eternally begotten Son of God. He is God made manifest in the flesh, fully God and fully man. We believe in His virgin birth by the Holy Spirit, His sinless life, His substitutionary atoning death, His resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven and His future, physical return to earth.

(John 3:16-18; John 10:30; John 1:14; Colossians 1:15; Matthew 1:18-25; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:22; Luke 24:1-12, 50-51; Mark 13:24-27)

God the father

We believe in God the Father, who is eternal in His existence, the creator of all things, the giver of life to all things, and the sovereign ruler of all things in heaven and earth. He acts in perfect love, grace and justice in all of His dealings with people. He mercifully causes all people who come to Him through Jesus Christ to be born again to a living hope. He is Spirit, holy, relational and unsearchable in His infinite depth of wisdom and knowledge.

(Psalm 90:2; Isaiah 44:22; 1 Timothy 6:13; Luke 10:21; Deuteronomy 32:4; 1 Peter 1:3; John 4:24; Leviticus11:44; Romans 11:33-34)

the holy spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who eternally proceeds from the Father and the Son. His ministry is to glorify Christ, to regenerate every believer, to guide us into truth, to empower us for living, to teach us all things, and to transform us into Christ-likeness. He indwells and baptizes every believer in the body of Christ, in which Christ is the head. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. We believe in all gifts of the Spirit for the building of the body and the glory of Christ.

(John 15:26; Galatians 4:6; John 16:14; Titus 3:5; John 16:13-15, 14:26; Romans 8:9-11; John 16:8-11; 1 Corinthians 12)

We believe that though the human race was created in the image of God, we voluntarily rebelled against Him, preferring the darkness rather than the light. As a result, we deserve God’s wrath and experience spiritual, physical and eternal death; which is separation from God. We believe that Christ died a substitutionary death, was buried, rose again on the third day, ascended into heaven where He intercedes for us and was the fulfillment of all the demands of the law. Through faith in Him we can receive the righteousness that we could in no way earn. Those who have trusted in Christ are free from condemnation and receive eternal life.

(John 3:16-19; Ephesians 2:1-9; 1 Peter 2:24, 3:18; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 8:34; Matthew 5:17-18; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 8:1)

We believe the Bible is God’s revealed Word to us. It was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, is without error in its original manuscripts and is the sufficient and final authority in life.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:160)

end times

We believe in the return of Jesus Christ to the earth to judge the living and the dead and to establish His Kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the righteous to eternal happiness in Christ and the resurrection of the unrighteous to eternal torment and separation from God.

(Mark 13:24-27; Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 19:11-16; John 5:19-29; 1 Corinthians 3:10-15; Romans 14:10-12; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-15; Revelation 21)
