At Providence, We see a Church where Compassion is Extended. A Church that is missional in mindset and action oriented in practice. A Church that is unstoppably committed to reaching a generation, brimming over with those that the statistics say are leaving the Church and filled beyond capacity with those who are down to their last hope. A Church that is gladly and hilariously giving of the resources that we have received to missional endeavors that reach people where they are at, consistently sending and going t places where people are, rather than expecting them to come to us.
Missions at Providence are both local and global. Below are some of the missions and missionaries we support.
Haiti Bible Mission
Haiti Bible Mission exists to transform the spiritual landscape of a desperate country by evangelizing and discipling the people of Haiti.
Based in Jeremie, Haiti, our ministry encompasses pastoral training and leadership development, church planting, educational support, widow and orphan care as well as a constant pursuance of justice for the oppressed and the overlooked. Our approach is highly relational and focuses on the most isolated and poverty-stricken parts of western Haiti.
We're very excited to be the home church of both the Stockeland and the Stone family who are full time missionaries with HBM.
Serving in Missions
SIM is an international mission organization with more than 4,000 workers serving in about 70 countries. SIM members serve God among many diverse people groups in every continent.
SIM workers are international themselves, representing about 70 nationalities—including nations that in the past only received missionaries. They serve in a wide variety of career fields. SIM is looking for people of any nationality who have almost any skill imaginable!
We're very excited to be the home church of one of the missionaries of SIM, Calvin Brain and his family.
At Providence, we are a community that helps each other. We believe that we were not meant to be idle when there are people who are lost and hurting around us!
If you are struggling physically or financially, such as needing to make necessary home repairs, paying overdue utility or medical bills, please contact us. We would like to hear from you about how we can help.
unabashed school of dance
The vision for the Unabashed school of dance is a foundational one. In order to fulfill the larger vision of developing a professional Christian dance company, Unabashed will open its doors to the community at large to provide a safe haven for dance. the Unabashed school of dance will offer sound dance instruction in accordance with the belief that God is the author of all things and therefore we shall strive to make Him apart of everything we do. At its core and above all else, the school will emphasize the overall importance of a personal relationship with ourGod, who, from eternity past, has planned the way for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. While teaching how the discipline of dance can be a good model for our life with God, the school will also show how dance can be a tool in helping us honor our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. The hope is to establish a community forum of dance for all ages and abilities as we exalt the name of the Lord with dance.
The Water Run is a 5K and 1 Mile race that has been put on by Providence for the last 3 years. Each year the all proceeds go towards a need in the community.
In 2015 more than $10k in proceeds went to benefit Baby Amaya. Baby Amaya was born with a rare chromosome disorder and the proceeds will help her family to pay for medical expenses. In 2016, we raised more than $7k in proceeds that went to benefit the York Polar Bears. The Polar Bears are a hockey team for special needs children. You can learn more about the Polar Bears here.
